Clifton Terrace

Clifton Terrace a small single terrace of substantial houses was built on the land high above the harbour overlooking Copperhouse Pool. It was built in 1840 and named in celebration of the Cornish Copper Company securing the contract to supply chains and other materials for the construction of Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge at Bristol.  Making parts for bridges seems to have become something of a speciality since the Cornish Copper Company also made links for the Albert Bridge at Salt ash and made parts for Lambeth and Hungerford bridges in London.
